Due to the growing Hornby industrial area, Orion NZ Limited forecasted the electricity load to grow, which would stretch what was the existing distribution supply capacity.
Connetics reinforced the 11kV distribution capacity from the Moffett Street ZS, to allow for this forecasted load and prevent a stretch of the existing distribution supply capacity.
This was a mammoth job as we trenched Waterloo Road to lay a new cable and replace existing cables. Due to physical constraints within Moffett Street Zone substation, our team dug up the switchyard by hand in order to locate, identify, cut and cap existing cables. The traffic management component was extensive due to the number of customer driveways in the area.
