Last week Connetics teams competed alongside teams from other EDBs and contractors in a series of fast-paced line mechanic and cable jointer events at the Connexis Annual Connection 2022 in Levin. Teams came from as far away as Te Awamutu in the north and Invercargill in the south with everyone putting their workplace skills to the test.
The Annual Connection competition replicates competitors’ usual workday and tests their teamwork and expertise. The event is a three-day celebration of the Electricity Supply Industry and the essential work it does in keeping the lights on and the country connected.
The event concluded with the Excellence Awards for 2022. The Annual Connection and Excellence Awards provide an invaluable opportunity to showcase and recognise our people and skills within the industry. Connetics representatives and the Board had a fantastic night and were present to observe the actual competitions and attend the awards evening.
Congratulations to team members Joel Lee, Philip Abbott, Khary Osmena, Kare Ngatai, John Harvey, Joe Natoli, Nicholas Johnson and Rob van Groen for representing Connetics and doing us all proud.
Philip Abbott, Nicholas Johnson and Rob van Groen were finalists for individual awards. Anton Stephens and Judea Keefe undertook team manager roles and Nick Scannell was a judge in the jointing competition.
